A BEAR & BISON INN

CANMORE, ALBERTA CANADA

Located less than five minutes from downtown Canmore, this custom owner-built Mountain Inn features bed & breakfast style hospitality, luxurious king beds and views of the Three Sisters Mountains from every room! It made for a great basecamp during a recent Avalanche Skills course I hosted in the mountains with Eddie Bauer! We enjoyed a three course breakfast each morning and refreshing après ski beers in cosy chairs around our in-room fireplace!

GeTTING THERE:

Located 1 hour from Calgary, 3.5 hours from Edmonton, and 7 hours from Spokane .

Summer/Autumn - An easy peasy lemon squeezy of a drive.

Winter / Spring - During winter, a vehicle with good snow tires is recommended for travel into and within Canmore.

ROOM AMENITIES

All ten rooms at the Inn have a cosy cabin vibe thanks to rich wood furnishings and antique snowshoes or skis on the walls! Each room is equipped with a lovely king sized bed (and plenty of pillows), rundle rock fireplace, private patio/deck, an in-room jacuzzi or oversized six-foot double soaker tub, and luxurious rain shower.

IN ROOM DINING

Your morning starts with a delicious french press coffee service followed by a 3-course breakfast, all delivered contactless to right outside your door! My favourite breakfast during my stay included a warm dark chocolate blueberry scone, strawberry rhubarb compote with homemade granola over yogurt, and eggs benny with oyster mushrooms!

MAIN SPACE / LOFT AREA

The B&B team recently brightened the walls and updated some furnishings within the main room of the Inn. This space is pretty quiet these days during Après Ski hours, but I could visualize future guests using it to cosy up and enjoy a cocktail after a day outside.

There is also a small lofted space looking down over the main room. From a baby grand piano, to a basket full of books and games, this spot is a perfect nook to hang out in when the main room is full.

ARTWORK

Throughout my stay I noticed a number of beautiful acrylic paintings by Canmore artist Pam Roberts. I love the owner's choice to connect not only the art, but also the decor details to the Inn's namesake (be sure to see how many bears and bisons you can find throughout the decor during your stay!).

DETAILS THAT I LOVED

A ritual of mine when I visit a new city or town is to find the local newspaper and read it ear to ear over a cup of coffee. I appreciated that the Bear & Bison had copies of the Rocky Mountain Outlook (Bow Valley Newspaper) placed throughout the Inn for their guests to read.

I absolutely loved the at-your-door contactless breakfast delivery each morning. The owner Lonny, let me know that this style of service is going to be standard moving forward!

The Inn follows the most current COVID-19 policies and has important information listed on their website HERE
